I began writing this story (the first chapter was posted to Nethog's Digest
on June 8th, 1999 at 17.47.56) I never thought they'd go past three chapters.
Now, here I am with over twelve (the exact number of chapters will be a
surprise). I lost the stories when my hard drive crashed a long time
ago, and they were totally lost in electronic form when Nethog's disk crashed.
As luck would have it, LadyWolf had printed them out and saved them all
this time. She made some copies and sent them to me so I could finish
the adventures of all the nifty peeps on IRC. Rest assured, I'm going
to make at least five copies of the stories this time so I don't loose
them again. One will be on my local hard drive, another on my second
hard drive, the third on my other computer, the fourth on Xanthra.com,
and the fifth on a CD-R that will be kept on my person at all times.
I remember that a lot of
people were mad at me for not finishing the story back in 1999. I
was mad at myself about it, but now it will finally be finished for all
to see. I'm going to try and include all the new people who are on
IRC right now in addition to keeping track of all the people from the beginning
of the story, so it should be quite an interesting ride.
Please note that as I retype
the stories I'm taking the opportunity to correct any spelling, grammar,
and punctuation I missed back in the day. However, I am not
changing the story line in any way, just fixing technical mistakes, so
they aren't word for word copies of the original stories, but they've hardly
changed at all.
Oh, and when in doubt, spell
it backwards. :)
Foreword
 iker
asked me to write something for the Nethog Digest, so I decided on a story
about people from #Help and #Global on EFnet, mostly the channel operators,
set in medieval times. Now keep in mind that I'm not an expert on
this time period, so if I make any technical mistakes just bear with me,
these are just for fun you know.
Also keep in mind that these
chapters will be filled to the brim with private jokes, so don't take them
all too seriously, especially when you're the one being joked about.
It's all in good fun! I'll try to include everyone I know and some
people I don't in future chapters if I missed you the first time around.
Now, without further ado,
let the story begin...
